Volunteering remains central to the ethos of the organisation and the delivery of many of our services. You make an enormous difference to what we can do and the quality of services we are able to provide.
This code of conduct is to be read in conjunction with the Hambleton Foodshare (HFS) volunteer guide and HFS policies and procedures which can be found on www.hambletonfoodshare.org.uk.
At HFS we believe that volunteering is a two-way process. We are grateful for the time and support that you are offering to us but equally we want this to be a fulfilling and enjoyable experience for you, like any good relationship it is important to outline what each party can expect from the other so we can build a mutually rewarding partnership.
To be valued and respected, whoever you are and whatever your background.
To provide guidance, support and be in regular contact.
Clear directions on carrying out your role as well as information about relevant training opportunities.
To be able to contact us if you have concerns or issues. To receive agreed out of pocket expenses.
To be reliable and let us know as soon as possible if you are not able to attend your volunteer shift or if any circumstances change that will affect your volunteering.
To be our representative in the local community, letting people know about our work.
To support HFS and act in accordance with our Policies & Procedures and volunteer guide.
To give the best of your skills and abilities to meet the required standards relating to your volunteer role.
Treat all customers, volunteers, and staff with respect.
HFS recognises that all people have a fundamental right to be protected from harm and that it does not operate in isolation.
Safeguarding is the responsibility of all people and especially all those working directly with volunteers and clients. HFS has a statutory duty to assist local authority safeguarding boards or their delegated officials (eg Social Services Departments) in inquiring into allegations of abuse.
Safeguarding concerns need to be shared with the Co-ordinator or Safeguarding Trustee as per the existing policy.
Please see the safeguarding policy for detailed instructions. You will be required to complete a safeguarding declaration at induction.
